The Most Bad Ass Elementary Around

The amazing kids over at PS22 in New York City are at it again. They never cease to make me smile and while it sounds cheesy I'm always reminded of the part in How the Grinch Stole Christmas when his heart grows "two sizes that day!" Listening to the purity of their sweet voices and seeing the joy & pride in their faces just makes me SO HAPPY I feel like I could burst. If you don't like this then I say you have a heart made of stone people! This is their rendition of Lady Gaga WHICH RULES! But I also love their versions of Journey's Don't Stop Believin', Coldplay's Viva La Vida, and Fleetwood Mac's Landslide and Forever Young by Alphaville. Their teacher Mr. B is pretty fab.

Greg sent me this video and as someone who has had to schlep MY vintage samsonite, I know he feels the pain of these lovely ladies. I mean, the darn suitcases weight a good 20 pounds EMPTY.

Pretty Little Ray of Sunshine.

A while ago I posted a series of photos I called "hiding in sunshine." It was all about me craving a little bit of sun but not a bright sunny day—more that dreamy, moody, blown out vintage sun. Well I recently stumbled upon this lovely Lady Tron video which is a little bit like that collection of photos come to life. So pretty! The director is Neil Krug, a 25 year old photographer living in Kansas. I think this is his first music video, although he did some work with Boards of Canada too. It's so dreamy....I think you'll like it.

I love seeing things sideways. My friend Baby Doe (the artistic director of my dance group The Devil-Ettes) sent me this today and I love it! I'm not sure how old it is, but stop motion always gets me.

Video: 60s Paul McCartney Judging Lip Synch

This is so great....Paul McCartney judging a lip synching contest as four young girls sing to Brenda Lee's "Let's Jump the Broomstick." Paul McCartney is more of an incidental bonus, you gotta watch the two girls on the right. The third one over is tearin' it up!! I love it. I wonder what they're all doing now??

Wall Art

I saw this last year, but recently stumbled upon it again. It's a little animated movie that was painted entirely on a wall. Crazy! It's really cool...I can't even imagine how long this must have taken to produce.

A sweet little break.

Call me crazy but there is something magical and soothing about this video...it's nothing but a turntable spinning around, but the song is so lovely. I feel like I could sit and watch it spin forever. Well....almost. Now if only it was a vintage record player. Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

The Clothes of Tomorrow.

This is brilliant. It's a clip from the 1930s where leading fashion designers were asked to speculate what they thought people would be wearing in the year 2000. The announcer is hilarious. I think "Ooooh swish!" will be my new catch phrase...

This is a little departure from my usual posts, but is something I'm really proud of and I wanted to share it with you guys! Earlier this year I worked on a really special campaign.

I love my job, but I do admit there is soooo much advertising out there that is kinda gross and salesy. Our assignment was to remind people that nothing goes better with chips than dips or salsa (hey, I wasn't about to disagree with that!). My friend and creative partner Jessica and I really wanted to do something different and came up with a campaign we called Made for Each Other. The idea was to celebrate the moment when two characters find their perfect match. We partnered with some super talented artists/animators from all over the world. We're both big music lovers and really wanted to feature up and coming musicians on the sound tracks—and we hit the jackpot with these five cool artists:

Artists: Leon Jean-Marie, Anya Marina, Ashton Allen/Rabbit, Melodium and Katie Herzig

It was seriously the ultimate "feel good" project. We got to give exposure to all these lovely artists and work with so many talented peeps. The client was really cool, but understandably nervous—we don't have a big bag of chips shoved in people's faces like most chip commercials, so this was def a departure for them! Thankfully people seem to truly love them. Sadly, the campaign is already off the air, but I would love for all these artists to get as much love as possible. If you like 'em, please post 'em or email 'em and pass 'em around! OK, on to the good stuff—they're all very short, I promise!

First up, the Firesprite! Mans Swanberg created this sassy little guy. We all flipped for this cool song called by the super groovy Leon Jean-Marie and people email me all the time asking where they can get their hands on a copy of the song (if you like, I can hook you up! Leon said it was cool...).

We worked with Romain Segaud on this one, which always makes me smile.

The song is Color the World by Ashton Allen, one of the nicest guys around,

and his band Rabbit.

Don't tell the others, but this is one of my favorites...it's so sweet. David Lobser

was the mastermind—it almost feels like its a trailer for a Pixar movie. The

haunting melody is called Flacana 16 by Melodium, this awesome folk, pop

eletronica band from France.

The childlike simplicity of Adrian Johnson's drawings and Katie Herzig's

super sweet song, Two Hearts Are Better Than One make this one so

uber charming!

This one is totally silly and awesome—created by Fons Schiedon. The song

is Vertigo by Anya Marina and months after we selected it we heard it on

an episode of 90210—hah! It was like my two worlds colliding...an excellent

sign if ever I heard one.
