Cafe OLE!

Some people are tea people and some people are coffee people. Just like some people are cat people and some people are dog people. I've been fighting The World's Worst Cold Known to Mankind (4 weeks and counting people) and as a result I am forcing myself to become a tea person. In fact I'm enjoying lovely cup of Vanilla Honey Chamomile right now. But really? I'm totally a coffee person.

Just so ya know, I never liked coffee and cigarettes and I'm not, like, promoting it or anything—I just thought that picture was sorta cute.

Oh, and my new tea discoveries that I'm loving: Tazo Vanilla Apricot White Tea, Bigelow Green Tea with Blueberry, Lipton Black Pearl (comes in a fancy little cloth tea bag) and of course Celestial Seasonings Honey Vanilla Chamomile. None of these is excessively fruity or sweet, just cozy and yummy. Liberal squeeze of lemon and dollop of honey to seal the deal! Any tea people out there with more recommendations??

  1. i'm also a coffee drinker and have always yearned to be a tea drinker. but it just doesn't captivate me.

that said, i've lately enjoyed several cups (both iced and hot) of tazo's passion herbal infusion and i'm also partial to rooibos teas with lemon.

  2. a good indian spiced chai with a splash of cream or milk and some sugar is a VERY good coffee compromise.

  3. alas, i've tried but i'm just not a coffee girl. living with journalist boy means we're knee deep in coffee come deadline, and i love the smell but the taste just disappoints and i get all jittery.

for tea, i really like jasmine, or chai or just earl grey. i got lured out of the rain and into a tea shop yesterday and tried some great 'jasmine dragon phoenix pearl' tea. it was so fragrant and flavorful, but thanks to australia's customs laws i would've had to smuggle some home in a bodily cavity. and it wasn't THAT good! haha

  4. Oh, I'm so glad it's not just us. My boyfriend has been off-and-on-sick for 3 weeks. I caught his cold 12 days ago and have been much sicker. Finally went to the doctor on Saturday and was diagnosed with bronchitis and given FOUR freakin' prescriptions. Now it's Wednesday and I'm still sick. Need to buy stock in a tissue company!

  5. Aren't addictive beverages the pits and the berries, all at once? My body has been programmed by aliens, i think, as come summer, i'm all about the coffee. Then, sometime around Nov 4th till Jun 6th, you'd think i was a Brit all the tea i drink. ;O)

My favourites i enjoy are: anything Bewley's, Harney and Son's Paris blend, and Grand Marnier tea (it's actual tea that has the Grand Mariner taste--yeah, i know! But you'll need a tea ball for it, as it's sold loose.) When i'm sick (and i am sorry you are), i love St. Dalfour's Organic Mint Tea or Traditional Medicinals Gypsy Cold Care.

Hope your "Tour of Duty" is over soon!

  6. I love Earl Grey. Mighty Leaf Earl Grey is the best. It has the Bergamot flavor which is wonderful and a bit of a floral taste. A little pricey but so worth it!

  7. I love C.O. Bigelow's vanilla caramel with a bit of soy milk and Tazo's passion with some sugar to balance out the tartness. I hope you're feeling better!!

  8. I live for coffee and cigs, but I quit smoking (OK, I've slipped a little...). I get all healthy yoga and drink green tea...for about three days max. Just cannot do it!

  9. Have you tried hojicha? It's a green tea that has been toasted -- yum yum yum! Mighty Leaf makes a decent one, too! :)
