Vintage Children's Book by Joe Kaufman

Another classic by Joe Kaufman. This one has such great, simple illustrations. Go Joe! Printed in 1966.

I adore that little line of ants. The crazy blue clown with the piccolo? Not so much.

  1. How about a dysfunctional family version?

    Your daddy is big
    A big stinky jerk
    Your momma's so fat
    Her arm flab waves first
    Your cat is obese
    Stop feeding him pork
    Your dog is so dumb
    He just ate a fork
    Those ants are quite small
    Clowns scare me like hell
    I don't like giraffes
    Can't stand the smell
In the end all I can say
Is stuff comes in all sizes
Like duh, whatever, let's go play.

  4. Well it worked! haha
Tuesdays are always weird in general because the city does this bizarre "air raid" test....a loud siren goes off and this Boring Man Voice Booms out throughout the entire downtown area "This is a test....this is only a test!"
It's like some bland, discombobulated Wizard of Oz head come to life.
Coupled with the gray weather it has been a little grim....also, not good news on my aunt. They are predicting that today or tomorrow might be "the day".

  6. Sorry for the late comment - I'm just catching up on a week of blog reading...
Alex, being a fan of vintage children's books I'm loving these posts. I love the simplicity of the page compositions in this book, and I'm a big fan of this illustration style. I'll have to add this book to my "must track down" list.
I'm sorry to hear about your aunt. I hope you're doing OK. Thinking of you.
